Food for Thought

“Some read to think, these are rare; some to write, these are common; and some read to talk, and these form the great majority. – Charles Caleb Colton.

I never thought of it this way.  Very interesting.

Going Ahead

I will be on the road for the next week and a half.  I am going to have an incredible experience.  Many of us have been invited to share in a man’s dream.  For 10 years he has studied the history of Frankincense.  He has spent 2 years making a movie of the caravan trips the ancient spice/oil merchants made when these essences were used in daily living and for medicine.  I’ll share after the 25th under general thoughts.

Month 4

This journey to health started in earnest 3 months ago.  I’ll be posting by the month now. The  successes are very limited eating after 7p.m.  This has cut out approximately 2 to 300 calories.  More LMs (liquid meals), regular cleanse days, lower gluten and sugar.

My body is going through a lot of changes so I will continue this journey until …..

The things I am tracking:  Gluten   Sugar   LM (liquid meal-no it isn’t a milk shake!) Exercise Refined Carbs  Late Snack

Day 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 Sugar Free  LM

NOTE: Days 4-12 I am out of town.  I will be able to eat properly but I am choosing not to post on a daily basis if at all.

Day8-9-10-11-12-13-14 I am back.  My professional conference went well.  I ate consciously and had low sugar when I had sugar.    13-High sugar day.  I seldom do buffets and we did one today.  I only took 2 bites of the desserts I chose as they weren’t worth the calories.  I am staying away from the buffets.  I just don’t want to have that much control.  14-LM  Low sugar  Gluten free

Day 15-16-17-18-19-20-21 15-Show day Exercise day/Balanced 16-Exercise day/High Sugar 17-Exercise Day/Balanced/Low sugar/Long Long Day 18-Very active day/Low sugar/Balanced/ ?Balanced means low carbs, sugar and gluten. Life is busy but the eating is pretty much in balance. I am pleased and grateful. My biggest challenge is to continue this journal. I know I must continue because it is the journalling that keeps me aware so that I make better choices. My next step in this journey is to put to practice what we learned about weight and the role the adrenals play. 19 This will be a challenging day but I am up to it.  Kept on track. 20 Doing good.   Chugging right along.  21 What a day.  I went shopping and….I am now a size smaller!!!!  The dresses I bought look sooooo smart and now I need new shoes of course.  The food wasn’t my best day but I was very active all day with the shopping and swimming.

Comments onkeeping a journal:  I have been told for years to journal my food intake.  When you journal about a behavior your conscious brain is awake and talking to you about that behavior.  In this case it talks to me about my food choices.

I now realize that I started this public journal about me and food because I was really committed to changing my behavior. I have at least 2 dress sizes to lose and then we will see what needs to be done.  Looking and feeling good is so much better than eating something that tastes good.  I of course can always have ‘that something’ tomorrow.

Week4+2 days  Days 22-30 22 What a potluck/block party.  Had my major meal before I went so only nibbled on the yummies and danced it off. 23 We are going out for dinner so I have to decide right now what I am going to have.t 24 25 26 These were some mediocre days.  I have to rein in the night time eating again.  Do I get lax with the journal because I want to eat or do I eat because I am lax with the journal??    The answer is BOTH. 27I will have low sugar, low carbs, no eating after 7 pm.  OK That shoud set the tone for the day. What a long day.  Did mediocre.  28 No committment here.  Lots of swimming so that took care of somel of the extra.  29We won’t discuss the downside here.  I did have a LM and very little eating after swimming.  30 I will have my morning LM, no sugar, low gluten and good to g0. success.

Oh My

Slogan in a managers office:  You pretend to work, and we’ll pretend to pay you.

I remember as a kid that I hated doing dishes.  We had no dishwasher and we were a family of 8.  We had no take-out food so it meant all the cooking pots and pans, the serving dishes, and the eating dishes.  It took me forever.  As I got a bit older, like 12 I realized; just get them done so you can have fun.  Great life lesson.

Life is so much smoother if we can just do the right thing in the moment.

What Is the Best Choice?

What do you do when a person you thought loved and cherished you says or does something so deeply and profoundly hurtful you are thrown into an abyss?

There are several steps that have to be taken. Steps that are a challenge when you are emotionally healthy and more of a challenge when you have been deeply wounded.

1.  Was the event really ‘deeply and profoundly’ hurtful? Are you adding a dimension that isn’t really the truth? (I told you these steps would be a challenge.)  If you decide that this was an act that was truly intentional and deliberate then you must see step 2.  If you believe the act was just another thoughtless action that hurt you, you may want to look at step 2 and make different decisions about this relationship.

2. Look at the big picture.  What is it you want from this relationship? What is it you are getting? If it is a situation where you took vows remember prayer will be your source of power. If you see the big picture and this event can’t be reconciled, forgiven, and put into a perspective that doesn’t forever alter the big picture you have some deep decisions/choices to make.

3.  Let it rest for a time before you make any decisions.  Often when an event occurs in a relationship and you take time to consider its ramifications the change you make will be for your highest good.

I had to look at one of my relatioships recently.  After I went through all the steps I was able to clarify the type of relationship we have, accept it, and stop trying to make it into something deeper.  That for me is a good thing.

Jessie Owens: Inspirational Humorous Quotes

If you are not going to play to win, you might as well hold the Olympics in someone’s backyard.

It’s helpful to remember that for every 1st place finish there are those that don’t place. It is a fact of life. Isn’t it nice to know that our best may not be good enough. I found this out recently. If I didn’t have a realistic view of my capabilities I would be suffering a battered ego.

Two jobs that I applied for didn’t pan out. The one job was seasonal, taxes. I paid to take the companies course and did very well. (They start the new people at $8.25!!) I stayed because, why not. The companies next step was to cut back office hours which means you have a lay-off. The new people go first. After that is implemented you are informed that if you want to work contact the main office. Let’s see-less hours for all the offices so when will we be called in to work?? Once again it is confirmed why I am self-employed.

The other job application was for census taking. I wasn’t hired. Some people that I know were hired and it is a lot of hassles.

I believe that I did my best in both instances and wasn’t suited for either job. The one I worked long enough to know it was a mismatch and the other I am not upset about at all. I know that when I play to win I will always have what I need for my next step.

Ahh the wonderful oils of Acceptance and Highest Potential keep me on this journey to forever.

Happy Birthday To Each One of You

Last week I went to a 90th birthday party. Are you feeling younger?? It really is about perception. My mom retired at 81 from a job that had a lot of physical labor. She still goes to the gym 2x weekly, does all her gardening, housework, and loves to read. So what kind things are you doing for yourself on this the day you celebrate all your blessings?

I think I’ll use more Joy oil today.
